About Our Club/Team/Organisation:

Gliding is many different things to many different people. For some, it is a hobby, and a way to meet new people. For others, it is an inexpensive way to get airborne. For many, it is even the cutting edge sport of either racing or aerobatics. For all, though, it is a silent and graceful way of flying without an engine. The Wolds Gliding Club has been in existence from 1969 in one form or another. Our club is now regarded as one of the best gliding clubs to learn to fly in the North of England. It originally started in Leeds as the "Leeds City Council Transport Sports and Social Club Gliding Section". However over the years there have been many changes. Since 1971 we have based at our currant airfield near Pocklingtion in the picturesque Yorkshire wolds. For more information please take a look at our history page on our website.
