About Our Club:

After many years of cooperation in the sleddog- and tourism - business, Team Lapland was founded in 2008 by Taisto Thorneus and Aki Holck. The idea of sportive cooperation became an impressive pool of resources that is provided by our members: More than 300 Alaskan Huskies, totally more than 100 years of our members' mushing experience and thousands of kilometers on the trail - these facts set up the target for the future: To become one of the most competitive mid- and long- distance sleddog racing teams in the world. The ideology to share and update our common platform active at all times brought out a first stock of 65 dogs to be trained in a very serious way for the season 2008/2009. Further on, seven top class dogs from Alaskan long distance teams ran by Lance Mackey´s & Ken Anderson´s kennels were bought to tune-up spirit and motivation. In general sleddogs from Taisto will mainly be raced by Taisto Thorneus, Lubos Jenca and Kent Hugosson. The sleddogs from Aki will work with Aki Holck, Jaakko Mölsä and Michael Kalcher as mushers. According to Team Laplands' ideology, occasionally best sleddogs from both kennels will perform together in teams. To keep going and to grant continous developement of future goals, Team Lapland will not hesitate to welcome a few more individual, ambitous members with high quality sleddogs ...and the respect that is needed to treat common ressources fair ! ...of course, a team named after a country without visible borders has to set up it's own limits...
