Ideals

If you are looking for a sporting family that will demand much out of you physically, if you are looking to immerse yourself in a world of persistence, dedication and team achievement then we can offer you a paddle.

Once you join, we provide high motivation for you to improve your personal fitness level. We encourage each individual member to measure themselves to mark improvement on a monthly basis and we offer guidance on their training programs outside of team training.

If you are prepared to throw yourself into a highly competitive sport that enjoys a yearly cycle of league based racing and UK wide travelling, give us a shot and we'll give you a challenge.

The training

Tuesdays and Thursdays are after work affairs. Indeed it is often a perfect stress reliever to hit the water hard after working hours.

Sunday sessions are held in the morning. Since we have a little more time to play with, the Sunday session may be more varied, possibly incorporating video sessions or dry land programmes. Training will never be boring.

People

We understand that people join for reasons not necessarily concerning making new friends. But the opportunity to become a more involved member of our crew is certainly very easy. We have a very international flavour so prejudices do not take hold here.

BBQs are organised, camping trips during the season and even ... weddings! Yes a few conjugal rites have been consummated during RD's existence.

Fun

Fun is...

- Getting a face full of Tate and Lyle sponsored water
- Throwing the drummer into the dock at the end of a race
- Not being caught by people trying to throw you in the dock at the end of a race
- Improving on your fitness benchmarks
- Getting your photo taken as you take up a dare - doing a naked run on the Exeter equine racecourse
- Camping with your teammates the day before the race
- Slamming 50 vodka shots in Nottingham, in team formation
- NOT getting farted at by the paddler in front of you (sorry, that's actually really funny)
- Cruising down the Thames in the Annual Great River Race
- Playing rounders in Hyde Park in the lovely British Summer
- Winning
