About Me
About Me:
Formed in 1984, our Junior Development has gained in strength and is regarded as one of the foremost in the United Kingdom. It enjoys a reputation for consistent competitive success evidenced by a track record which is second to none. Personal development is a key feature of the coaching programme and as a result, players who were introduced to ice hockey in Kirkcaldy are playing at a senior level in clubs throughout Britain. Our annual tournament, Hockey UK, is one of the top junior tournaments in the country. Held over three weekends around Easter each year, it draws together top teams from the UK's junior leagues and invites competition from Europe and beyond. Teams from as far afield as New Zealand and Czechoslovakia have participated in recent years. Players from our club are regularly invited to represent Scotland and Great Britain on the international scene. On the domestic front, our team and club successes are numerous. In recent years, teams at all levels have won the Scottish Leagues and Scottish Cups as well as being tournament winners at club events north and south of the border. Although a high level of performance in competition is seen by most as a key indicator of success, it is our belief that this can only be achieved by ensuring that each individual attains his full potential and is encouraged to contribute fully to his development and those around him. To facilitate this we rely upon our team of qualified coaches, many of whom have played in our own junior teams, to offer challenging and structured programmes. Two of our coaches have progressed beyond the club and are now the main contributors to the national training programme for coaches from all Scottish Clubs. Several of our coaches are invited each year to coach national and regional teams at each age group. The commitment from our coaching staff is enhanced by the strong support of team managers, trainers and fund-raisers. The club is managed by a committee consisting of ex officio members and representatives from each team. The involvement of parents is encouraged and the support of many, through for example, taking on off-ice duties, is highly valued.
