The Hovercraft Club of Great Britain (HCGB) is the prime organisation for the control and operation of sporting Hovercraft within the United Kingdom. The principal aims of the Club are to encourage the safe operation of light Hovercraft for sporting and recreational purposes and provide assistance in the design and construction of sporting Hovercraft. The Hovercraft Club of Great Britain was formed in 1966 by a group of enthusiasts from the Isle of Wight, the home of the first SRN1 Hovercraft. It is the UK National Club for anyone interested in the development of light Hovercraft for recreational purposes. The Club is a founder member of the European Hovercraft Federation. Many members build their own craft which are then used for racing or cruising. Over the past 30 years the technical expertise within the Club has grown immeasurably and is available to all members in a range of specialised publications or on a more personal level through the members who are always willing to advise and assist.
