About Our Club/Team/Organisation:

Aberystwyth Fencing Club, in its current incarnation, was formed in 2000. A number of people expressed a desire to either try the sport, or for those who had fenced before, have the opportunity to fight in the town. A venue was found and equipment hire secured. As the club developed it out-grew its old venue and in October 2002 moved to Plas Crug leisure centre. Late 2002 saw the provision of lottery funding and a council grant, with which the club finally acquired its own equipment. Funds were enhanced following sponsorship by the Coopers Arms. In 2004 additional funding was provided by the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust. In 2006 the club moved to its current venue at Penweddig School. Where and When? Main Session: Aberystwyth Fencing Club meet in the main sports hall at Penweddig School (next door to Plas Crug leisure centre) at 19:30 pm on Thursdays. Experienced fencers are welcome to come along at anytime from 20:00. Beginners Course (15 years old +): A 10 week beginners course is starting 10/01/2008. This will run from 19:30 until 20:45 on Thursday nights in Penweddig School Hall. There are 12 places available to book a place on the course please e-mail the club or call Phil on 01970 881010. Please note that the beginners course will be charged as a one off fee rather than weekly. Youth Session: This runs 19:30-20:30 on Thursdays in Penweddig School Hall.
