Tim Fitzgerald trains at Norton Grange, using the historic Highfield Gallops. The Gallops are on the site of a National Hunt racecourse, which closed in the early 20th Century. Classic winners such as Musidora, Pia (both 1, 000 Guineas) and Peleid (St Leger) have been trained on Highfield Gallops. Captain Elsey trained the last winner owned by the last King of England on the Gallops. Tim was Assistant Trainer to his father, Jimmy, for over 20 years, taking over the reins in March 2003. Jimmy trained over 1, 200 winners during his 34-year career, including a Cheltenham Gold Cup (Forgive N Forget) among six Festival successes, two Scottish Grand Nationals (both with Androma) and a Hennessey Gold Cup (Galway Blaze) over the jumps. On the flat, Jimmy won the Ebor and Princess Of Wales Stakes with Sapience, the Cesarewitch twice (Kayudee and Trainglot), and the Lincoln with Evichstar. Tim has gone close to winning the Cesarewitch with Inchnadamph twice - third to Seargant Cecil in 2005 and second to Detroit City in 2006.
